PUT WALDO ON YOUR WEBSITE

Waldo, anywhere.

One line of code and he moves into your site. He reads your layout and walks along your headings, images and buttons. He jumps between them, opens code portals, and can be picked up by any limb and thrown. He lands on his feet. He's running on this page right now, so go find him.

<script src="https://youfoundwaldo.com/embed/waldo.js" defer></script>

Paste it before </body>, or into your site builder's custom code (Webflow, WordPress, Squarespace, Shopify, Framer, plain HTML). Nothing else to install.

Tune him

Loading Waldo… Click him, then: A D walk, Shift runs, Space jumps, F portal gun, Esc lets go of the keys.

Change the page under him

He re-reads the page whenever it changes. Drag him onto something new and he'll walk it.

Options

Add any of these to the script tag.

data-size="1.2"
How big he is, 0.4 to 2. He also shrinks on narrow screens.
data-speed="1.4"
How fast he walks and runs, 0.4 to 3.
data-lines="Hi!|Welcome in.|Try the menu."
What he says, separated by |. The first line is his hello.
data-platforms=".card, .banner"
Only stand on these (CSS selectors). By default he uses headings, images, figures, buttons, rules, quotes, tables, headers and footers.
data-z-index="9999"
Stacking order, if something of yours needs to sit above him.
data-motion="always"
Show him even to visitors who asked their device for reduced motion. By default he stays away for them.

In your markup

data-waldo-platform
Put it on any element to make its top edge somewhere he can stand.
data-waldo-point="Look at this!"
Now and then he walks up to it, points, and says the line while it glows.

From JavaScript

YFWaldo.say('Hi!'), YFWaldo.portal(), YFWaldo.restart({ size: '1.3' }), YFWaldo.remove(). Call YFWaldo.measure() after a big layout change.

Good to know

  • The snippet is about 1 KB. The 3D (about 190 KB compressed, plus the model) only loads after your page has finished, so it never slows your first paint.
  • The keys only drive him after a visitor clicks him, so he never takes your page's Space bar or arrow keys. Escape lets go.
  • No cookies, no tracking, nothing sent anywhere. Phones get a joystick after tapping him.
  • If your site uses a Content Security Policy, allow https://youfoundwaldo.com for scripts and connections.
